Back to Events

Join us for a fun filled evening of space and astronomy activities at St Peter's School, York. Suitable for all the family: try out hands-on activities, venture inside the Cosmodome or Sundome, and gaze at the wonders of space with the York Astronomical Society (weather permitting). The exhibition is open to all from 5.30pm, with a ticketed lecture on the 'Beauty and Science of Nebulae' at 7pm.

The lecture will be delivered by Carolin Crawford, the Public Astronomer at the Institute of Astronomy at Cambridge University. She is an observational astronomer with many years of active research experience, carried out alongside - and later eclipsed by - a growing role in the public communication of science. The talk will explore the vast clouds of gas and dust that inhabit interstellar space and are showcased in spectacular images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope.
